Speaker Bio

Up until recently most commentary on Internet of Things (IoT) technology has concentrated on Cloud-based applications running Software as a Service (SaaS) and incorporating Big Data Architecture. More recently edge devices are being recognized as an increasingly important part of the IoT infrastructure, where the computing power of many smaller devices can complement or even displace the Cloud approach.

This presentation looks at the reasons why Edge Computing is becoming more important in IoT solutions and the challenges that it brings, including Distributed Architecture, Device and Data Security, and Networking. It will include a review of the performance and lessons learned on a large-scale deployment with C6000 devices connected via Cellular to a Central Server.
